Some of us are either disgruntled (or nerdily jazzed) by heading back to school. To get into the swing of hittin’ books, this week’s episode has a medley of fresh and classic tunes. Including AJ The One, Bombino, Justus Proffit and Jay Som, Dent May, M.I.A., Soko, ELO, The Who, and a couple songs to celebrate the memory of the Queen, Aretha Franklin.
Also... It’s Summer Pledge Week! Here’s the deal, if you pledge to help a sister out (and this marvelous indepdendent, commercial-free nonprofit radio station) I will pledge to include you on my show. How so? If you pledge....
- $5 — 1 song of your choosing gets air time
- $10 — 2 songs
- $20 — 30 minutes of a genre/decade (and I mean any genre) of your choosing for which I’ll carve out a mix
- $50 — 1 full hour (that’s half the show!) of your chosen genre/decade, you select 2 artists that I’ll include in the mix, AND I’ll read the entire lyrics to Tom Waits’ “The Piano Has Been Drinking” (or something to that equivalent)
- $100 — 2 full hours (that’s the entire show!) of your chosen genre/decade, you select 5 artists that I’ll include in the mix, AND I’ll read the entire lyrics to Tom Waits’ “The Piano Has Been Drinking” (or something to that equivalent)
This station is not FCC regulated- so songs including a sailor’s vocab or crude subject matter is alright. However, my only condition is that music does not use or suggest degrading or violent language, especially toward marginalized groups of folks. Since you’re my friends, I’m assuming you’re not assholes, but figured I’d go ahead and make that crystal clear ;D
