Slamdance 2025 - Larry (They/Them) and Complicated

Send us a text

Welcome to Slamdance 2025, where today we're bringing you two powerful documentaries.

Larry (They/Them) follows non binary trans photographer Laurence Philomène during their transitional journey, as they piece together a photographic autobiography and art exhibit entitled "Puberty". Director Catherine Legault explains how she became friends with Laurence, bringing a new perspective to their art, and why it's important to show that everyone's journey is different.

Complicated shares the painful story of kids suffering from Ehler’s-Danlos Syndrome, a disease that is too complicated for mainstream medicine, causing them to be passed around, abandoned, and in some cases accused of faking their illness. Director Andrew Abrahams shares the problem with cookie cutter medicine, how the issues extend to CPS and the law, and how even though the medical system doesn't know a lot about this disease, one in 500 people suffer from it.
