San Francisco’s 17-member artist collective Family Not A Group throws sold-out parties, tackles inequality via their web series Rent Check, educates students and mobilizes for protests. They share a passion for culture and advocacy. On Thursday, September 26, BFF.fm and KQED are co-presenting an evening at The Commons at KQED featuring performances by rapper and bandleader Afterthought, comedian and filmmaker Mike Evans Jr., DJs Baghead and Jenset, rapper Frak and rapper-turned-food influencer Grand-O, a.k.a the the Snack Sensei — plus musicians Ash, Serg, SundaY, Cynny, Ozer, Easway, DJSay, Kaly Jay and Professa Gabel. In conversations with KQED Arts & Culture editor Nastia Voynovskaya, the collective will share how Family Not a Group parties with a purpose.

Ozer calls their performances “a family service.” “It’s going to make you feel like family, and you’ll have a deeper connection to each artist that you see,” he says.

FNG DJs will keep the vibes high with a back to back set to close out the night! Starts at 7pm. $15
