Meet the DJ behind one of your favorite BFF.fm morning shows, End of Teens: Josalyn! End of Teens celebrates the end of teenager times, poetry, girlhood, and music. Tune in from 8-9am on Tuesdays!

What is your favorite local album of 2024?

Honestly, I love anything by Katsy Pline, that is my major favorite listening. She is also a DJ on BFF.fm with Heartbreak Ahead, one of my favorite shows. I love the reworking of country music [that she does] to make it more queer-friendly and more inclusive. I love the reworking of the genre because of the stigmatization and standard ideals behind traditional country music. But- I love the reworking behind it that Katsy Pline does and I especially love her song "Pining." One of my favorite songs, I played it on my show too…

In three words can you describe End of Teens Radio?

End. Of. Teens. Just kidding… Poetry. Early. Morning. I guess because I sit there and I’m the first one in the studio 8-9am Tuesdays and I just kind-of talk and play whatever music I want. Either one week it could be ‘up’ and one week it could be ‘down’ and I read poetry depending on the mood or things like that. Stuff that really touches your heart early in the morning and gets your morning ready with those sadness vibes. I'm all about that morning sadness

What do you love most about the Bay Area?

What I love most about the Bay Area is how many people you can truly connect with. I feel like when comparing with other places like LA or anywhere else in California, there's no other place like the Bay Area. You can be anyone from all walks of life and all ages and you can find at least one person and one way to connect with them and one way to kind-of have a relationship with them. You can just find so many people and find little ways to connect with someone. You can’t find that anywhere else, in my opinion.

What does community radio mean to you?

What community radio means to me is that someone can come into the studio and share their story and their own perspective. Community radio truly is a community at its standpoint. So, I believe that someone can truly come from any point in their life and come to the studio and share their experience and what their music means to them. So community radio is kind-of an outlet for anyone who wants to come in and share their story. Stories are important to learn about, especially in the Bay Area.

Tune into End of Teens, Tuesday 8-9am!
