Sóley performed her brand of piano music at IDNO as part of the INNI label launch. So, what does an Airwaves audience expect of her? Mostly haunting vocals that give light to grim fairytales accompanied by the lightest ivory tickling, all with a splash humor in the dark.
And, while she played a shortened set that included an old favorite or two, as well as new songs from her upcoming album, her somberness infused the performance. At one point, she covered her head in a lace veil and continued to perform in this black cover, even though the room itself was shrouded in darkness. There is something so joyful in creating art in the midst of gloom and Sóley's music embodies a lot of that hope and beauty. Somehow it all perfectly matched the mood of the night and the autumnal season.
