EP074: Nightmares Connected to Chains

The emergence of vegetarianism in Mexico has been influenced by a variety of factors, including cultural shifts, health considerations and environmental concerns. Traditionally, Mexican cuisine has heavily featured meat as a central component, making vegetarianism a relatively new concept. However, with increasing global awareness about the environmental impact of meat production and the health benefits of plant-based diets, more Mexicans are adopting vegetarianism or reducing their meat consumption. Additionally, a connection to indigenous dietary practices that often included a variety of plant-based foods has sparked interest in vegetarian options. Efforts to promote animal welfare and ethical considerations also play a role in the growing vegetarian movement in Mexico, as awareness about factory farming practices increases. This shift reflects the broader global trend toward more sustainable and compassionate food choices.
